What Is A Solid Flywheel Conversion Kit?
A Solid Flywheel Conversion Kit is used to convert a vehicle originally equipped with a dual mass flywheel to a solid flywheel. This conversion requires no special tools, you can simply bolt the Solid Flywheel Conversion Kit in place of your previous Dual Mass Flywheel Clutch. There are some Pros and Cons of a Solid Flywheel Conversion to consider:
PROS
Price: Solid Flywheels are typically much cheaper than Dual Mass Flywheels
Increased Durability: Solid Flywheels are more durable than Dual Mass Flywheels because there are no springs or moving pieces
Can Be Resurfaced: Unlike Dual Mass Flywheels, Solid Flywheels can be resurfaced instead of replaced during clutch replacement if still within factory specifications
CONS
Increased Vibration and Noise: Solid Flywheels cannot absorb noise and vibration as well as Dual Mass Flywheels do, so you may experience a rougher or noisier drive
Increased Transmission Wear: The reduced dampening ability of a Solid Flywheel can lead to increased wear and tear on your transmission and drivetrain
